Dressage at Devon

For me the real end of summer starts with the Hampton Classic and the beginning of fall is the closing day of Dressage at Devon.

Tomorrow is the first day of Dressage at Devon. I already miss being there. The fabulous display of horses. The conversations with horse people about horse related things. The unpredictable weather and of course the most amazing french fries on the planet.

If you are lucky enough to be at DAD this week be sure and take the time to wander through the vendors. There will be  delightful finds from beautiful barns signs from Briarwood to lovely hats and gloves. Visit my friend Penny at Hoof Prints Studio, she creates sophisticated jewelry and equine painting and prints. She is also a master framer and will have some of my art.

Above all though, don't miss the french fries!

Smooth Sailing

A few years ago one of my dear friends commissioned me to create paintings of their sailboat for her husbands Christmas present. They had lived on this boat after they were married, so not only is it a beautiful boat, it is a symbol of their love. I was honored to be asked to do this.

I incorporated nautical charts, blueprints of the boat, marine life, and lines of poetry and their names and the name of their beloved daughter into the paintings. It was exciting to work on such a labor of love.

I was delighted to receive an email from her recently of one of the paintings hanging in their home in Annapolis, Maryland. Equally delighted that they are sill enjoying them.
