September Workshop

  On Saturday, September 24th, I will be having a workshop on Creativity and making the most of time you spend creating.

I will be introducing strategies and exercises that will enable you to clear creative blocks out of you way.  While this class is geared towards visual artist it will help anyone struggling with creative endeavors.

The workshop will be held in my Flagstaff studio from 10:00 to 12:30 and will include all materials, although participants may want to bring a few of their own things. Space is limited so if you are interested please email me at ctannerjensen@gmail.com

Playing with Colour!

This is Stanley Kurth. The weekend before last I drove down to Phoenix to take part in a workshop he gave and to experience the delights of 120 degrees in the parking lot. The heat was really oppressive outside while we worked in a very comfortable room inside Arizona Central Art Supply and the instructor was fantastic!

I love Stan's work. It's fresh, moody, mysterious, smart, and compelling. This is why I leapt at the opportunity to be there.

These are some of the materials he works with. He implements watercolors, inks, crayons, acrylics, gesso, and anything else he can get his hands on, on various surfaces. For the workshop he used 300lb Arches watercolor paper.

This was his start. He said it was random placement of color over stray wax marks. I was there, I watched him and while I do believe that he does not start out with a plan, he is guided by all those years of creating compositions and evaluating color relationships.

If you have always wanted to create, but didn't know where to start, this class is for you.

Various techniques will be demonstrated to create texture and depth. A variety of materials will be used to explore composition and colour. Participants will be encouraged to experiment and have fun while making their artwork.

No previous art experience is required.

Participants are asked to wear cloths that they don't mind staining. Things could get messy!

There will be a lunch break so that you may experience one of our great downtown restaurants or bring a sack lunch.

Collages will be composed on a wood support that does not require framing. So you will be able to let your artwork dry and hang it on the wall.

of materials will be used to focus on colour and composition.
No previous art experience is required.

Participants are asked to wear clothes  that they don’t mind staining,
thing could get messy! 

There will be a lunch break so you can eat at one of our great downtown          restaurants or bring a sack lunch.

A wood support that does not require framing will be part of the materials supplied so that each person will be able to let their creation dry and hang it on the wall!

While all the materials will be supplied students may wish to bring
scissors, favorite bits of paper or fabric, photos, anything they may wish
to collage into their artwork.
