From time to time someone approaches me and wants to know if I will do a lay-away plan for them on a particular painting or print. They are usually a bit shy about this, but they shouldn't be. The answer is almost always yes.

The monthly payment plan gives me a bit of relief from stress. I know I don't have to worry about this bill or that because a check is coming in. That in turn allows me to focus for easily on creating.

Exploring the Dark

Everyone knows that in the dark, you can't see. However when I was in a drawing class many years ago an instructor turned the tables on the phrasing and said "In a world of absolute light you see nothing."

This had an impact on my. I started search for the shadows.

There are lots of days when I am in the studio riddled with self doubt. Questioning what I am doing. Questioning why I am doing it. Questioning if it matters.

Then a painting sells.

There is a rush. A feeling of yes, someone recognized me. Me. Not my skill, not my ability, not my choice of materials, but me. The me that was and is always there. The me that I had no hand in creating. The me that has connected with something I don't understand. Something that is beyond the word of defining and lies in the field of feeling. Something only the heart glimpses and the artist wants to share.

And someone else felt it too!

This is a painting I just finished. I took a photo of it minutes after I completed it. I am taking it to Tom this afternoon to have it professionally photographed. I will post that image as soon as I get. So, just wait.......

I love printmaking. I gives you such a different surface than direct drawing or painting. I am also impatient, and love the immediate  result you have when working on a drawing or painting, no proofing.

Working with silkscreens, watercolor, graphite, and a clear acrylic silkscreen medium I produced this Mono Serigraph. I printed both of these on a piece of Stonehenge that I had toned with watercolor.

Love it when you can combine techniques and media.

At best, I am a bad picture taker. This fact  however does not stop me from taking pictures of my painting to post here on my blog. The image above was photographed yesterday by Tom Alexander. He shot a file of this painting actual size, 30"x 50", so if at some future date we want to make a print that large it will have all the detail of the original. He is a genius to whom I will be eternally grateful for.

The more I take photos of my paintings,the more I appreciate my photographer!Tom Alexander always makes the gold leaf look amazing and captures the subtle element of the paintings that I completely miss.
This gives you the idea.I loved the way his feet came out!

Pink and Green

I love pink and green.It is one of my favorite colour combinations and It's composed from my two favorite colours.This is something that many of my friends have a hard time getting there heads around.They just don't think of me as the pink and green type of girl.To be quite honest,I don't know what type that would be.Do you?

December Show

I am having a show at Turning point Gallery,Chapel Hill,NC,December 11th.The painting I am working on will be the centerpiece of the show.It's oil on canvas and appx.36"x60".I have a lot of painting to do,so I better get at it!
